The Almora district planning department has passed Rs 63.56 crore for the district plan for 2015-16. This amount is Rs 7.49 crore more than last year’s district plan budget. However, the department has spent only one third of the planned budget money for 2014-2015.

“We have emphasised on installing solar power plants at all educational institutions of the district through Ureda, besides giving more money for the construction of rural roads and drinking water projects,” said Dr Iqbal Ahmed, chief development officer of Almora district.

He said efforts were being made to spend the plan money released for the current year as the department had utilised only one third of the budget amount till date. “Of Rs 56.07 crore sanctioned for the district plan for the current year, the departments had spent only Rs 16.06 crore by December end,” said Dr Iqbal.
