Raising the issue of the death of a forest beat watcher on duty, the opposition Congress  MLAs entered the well of the House criticising the BJP government for failing to curb illegal mining.

As soon as Congress  MLA Preetam Singh raised the issue, the over zealous Congress MLAs led by Harish Dhami, Karan Mahara, Raj Kumar and Manoj Rawat stormed into the well of the House. Soon altercation ensued between the Congress MLAs and BJP MLAs.

Both Karan Mahara and Harish Dhami were at their aggressive best and tried to  derail the discussion.

Their displeasure at the appointment of Indira Hridayesh as the Leader of the Opposition did not go unnoticed even in the House.

However, Indira deftly handled the issue but in the entire oneupmanship game, Harish Dhami forgot to control his speech and openly claimed that he had carried out firing in the air to disperse mining mafia who were allegedly after him. This he did to deflect the criticism by the treasury benches, who accused him of allegedly being part of the mafia, when the Congress government was in power.

Further, while delivering his thanks on the Governor’s address, Munna Singh too lost no opportunity in firing salvos against the autocratic style of functioning of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat when Harish Rawat suddenly entered the visitors gallery to view the proceedings of the House.

Anti-spitting Act

The Anti-littering and Anti-Spitting Act that was introduced by the Congress government has become an Act after the approval by the Governor Dr KK Paul.  It has become the 23rd Act of Uttarakhand. This was announced  by Vidhan Sabha Secretary Jagdish Chander  in the House today. In all, 41 Bills passed by the previous Congress government have become Acts. These were pending approval from  the Governor.
