The agitated villagers held a demonstration at the Community Health Centre, Sahiya, against not fulfilling their pending demands. They locked the health centre and blocked vehicular traffic on the Kalsi-Chakrata highway. The protesters demanded better medical and health facilities in the health centre.

They gathered at the health centre and raised slogans against the state Health Department. The villagers expressed concern over poor medical, and health facilities, despite health centre being run on the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. They lamented that memorandum highlighting their demands was given many times to the district administration, but to no avail.

According to them, the medical facilities had turned worst since January, 7. They said expectant mothers and seriously ill patients were forced to traverse several kilometres to get basic medical facilities.

The protesters demanded that the state government should appoint medical officers, pharmacists and staff nurses in the health centre so that villagers got basic medical facilities at Sahiya.

Vinod Bhasin, Bheemdutt Verma, Munna Rana, Gopal Chauhan and Deewan Singh Tomar were present on the occasion.
