Dehradun, April 30

Uttarakhand Congress president Kishore Upadhyay has sought security for Congress leader Navprabhat, whose had questioned EVMs’ credibility, has recently been accepted by the Nainital High Court. The court has subsequently directed for seizure of all EVMs used in the Vikasnagar constituency during recent Assembly polls.

Former minister Navprabhat, who was a Congress candidate from the Vikasnagar Assembly constituency, had alleged tampering and manipulation of EVMs and submitted a petition before the Nainital High Court.

In a statement issued yesterday, Kishore Upadhyay said since the day the Assembly elections were announced in Uttarakhand, the BJP’s victory was being credited to EVMs’ “magic”. He reminded that even BJP top leaders at the Centre some time back had raised questions over the credibility of EVMs.
