Ecole Globale students shine in CBSE swimming contest

DEHRADUN: A six-member team of Ecole Globale International Girls’ School, Dehradun, won five silver and 10 bronze medals in the Under-19 category and five students qualified for the national competition at the CBSE North Zone Swimming Competition 2016 held at Apeejay School, Noida, between October 1 and 4.

Dehradun, October 9

A six-member team of Ecole Globale International Girls’ School, Dehradun, won five silver and 10 bronze medals in the Under-19 category and five students qualified for the national competition at the CBSE North Zone Swimming Competition 2016 held at Apeejay School, Noida, between October 1 and 4. The chief guests of the swimming contest were CBSE Sports Coordinator Pushkar Vohra and CBSE Swimming Coordinator Rajkumar.

As many as 600 students from 46 schools participated in the contest. The five Ecole students — Reya, Mahek, Varshana, Srishti and Rechelle, who have qualified for the CBSE National Swimming Competition 2016, will showcase their talent from November 13 to 16, 2016.

The 4x100 metre medley relay team of Reya Virk, Mahek Malik, Varshana Agarwal and Srishti Singhroha from Ecole won five silver medals. School’s 4X100 metre freestyle relay team of Varshana Agarwal, Reya Virk, Rechelle Bodkha and Mahek Malik bagged five bronze medals.

Medal winners in the individual events include Mahek Malik, who won bronze in 50 m freestyle, 50 m breast stroke and 100 m breast stroke. Reya Virk won a bronze in 50 m back stroke, and Srishti Singhroha bagged one bronze in 100 m back stroke. Ecole Globale Principal Brinda Ghosh and Vice-Principal Sonal Rawat congratulated the participants and encouraged them to keep working towards achieving greater heights.
