Finally, the cave at Brahmpuri near Rishikesh where the renowned saint Swami Ramtirth meditated and is believed to have attained self-realisation in 1898 will get a facelift, if all goes well soon.

According to secretary of the Swami Ramtirth Ashram Samiti Vinod Chamoli, Water Resource and Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani has directed DM, Tehri, Indudhar Baudai to preserve the area by constructing a safety wall around the cave and improving the condition of bathing ghats for devotees along the Ganga so that the future generation can learn about the contribution made by the seer to uplift the lives of the downtrodden.

Swami Ramtirth attained self-realisation in 1898 and started leading the life of a celibate and took sanyas. Earlier in his life, he was known as Professor Tirth Ram and used to teach mathematics in Foreman Christian College University in the undivided Punjab. The Swami Ramteerth campus of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Central University is named after the great seer.

Chamoli said most of the things related with the seer were either neglected or damaged. It had become imperative to restore the cave and the site around in order to preserve the memories of the great seer. Kaka Hariom, the president of the samiti, thanked the minster for his efforts and said the spot where the seer meditated would be able to motivate people to live a successful life filled with honesty and joy.
