DEHRADUN:The Department of Nuclear Sciences & Technology of University Petroleum and Energy Studies organised a programme on Nuclear Energy Awareness for its students on the campus here on Monday.

The Department of Nuclear Sciences & Technology of University Petroleum and Energy Studies organised a programme on Nuclear Energy Awareness for its students on the campus here on Monday. 

Padma Vibhushan Dr MR Srinivasan, a former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India, who was the chief guest, spoke on the share of nuclear energy contribution in the Indian energy basket. He also spoke on the current status of the 20 nuclear power units which are operational in the country. All environmental fears could be overcome with a scientific approach, he said. — TNS
