Inspector General and state nodal officer (Election) Deepam Seth has instructed policemen to ensure that polling goes off peacefully in the state. He instructed them to identify sensitive and ultra-sensitive polling booths across the state. He was expressing his views in a one-day training workshop for district nodal officers here today.

Seth told them to take effective measures to impose the model code of conduct for polling. He told district police heads to ensure boarding and lodging facilities for paramilitary forces during polls. He said the district police, administration and paramilitary forces should have coordination so that election went off peacefully. Seth said transportation facilities should be readily available for policemen deployed for election duties. He instructed officials to strictly deal with those try to break law during polling. He ordered district police heads to deploy civil police, provincial armed constabulary (PAC) and reserved police force in adequate number to hold election peacefully. He said policemen should remain vigilant during election season in the state. Seth said cops should remain vigilant to check misuse of cash during polling across the state. He reviewed steps taken by district police heads to maintain law and order in district since the announcement of state Assembly election. He gathered information about arms and ammunition submitted by license holders since the model code of conduct was imposed in the state.
