The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Astral, grabbed the first position in the recently concluded CanSat Competition 2016 for Europe and Asia. As many as 73 teams, including 13 teams from India, participated in the competition held at Burkett, Texas, USA.
The mission of CanSat 2016 was to simulate a sensor payload travelling through a planetary atmosphere sampling the atmospheric composition. CanSat is an annual design-build-fly competition with space-related themes organised by the American Astronautical Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.— TNS
