Uttarkashi, March 2

Incessant rain lashed the Garhwal region forcing the residents to remain indoors. The Uttarkashi-Gangotri road was blocked near Dharasu at Nalupani due to mud debris. Several areas of Uttarkashi district, including Gangotri also received moderate to heavy snowfall today.

The Border Road Organisation employees managed to open roads for few hours, but were blocked again in the afternoon due to heavy rain. Uttarkashi District Magistrate announced the closure of schools in the district in the wake of heavy rain. The higher reaches around Mussoorie such as Nag Tibba and Dhanaulti also experienced snow, rain and hail. Traffic was blocked due to foggy condition in Mussoorie. The vehicular movement was also affected on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road.
