A local woman has alleged that some persons, posing as members of the state Waqf Board, are trying to usurp her land. She says they have placed a signboard on the land and want to establish an Islamia School under the aegis of the Waqf Board at Anda Khet, near Landour Bazaar, here.

Roshni Rawat alleged that some persons this morning placed a signboard on her land stating that this land belongs to the Waqf Board, which is untrue. She said some persons posing as members of the Waqf Board were trying to sell her land at Anda Khet. When she tried to stop them from erecting the signboard on her land, they entered into a verbal dual with her. She alleged that these unidentified men were trying to usurp her parental land that has been in her possession for a long time. Roshni said some miscreants were eying the land as she had no one to defend her. Harassment by the so called Waqf Board members had become a regular feature in the area. She alleged that several illegal tin sheds had been set up in the area under the patronage of the Waqf Board and a organisation associated with it.

Meanwhile, Javed Khan, member of Waqf Board, Library Bazaar committee, said the property belongs to the Waqf Board and it was unfortunate that the dispute had arisen in the matter between an individual and some members of the board.

He said an Islamia School was proposed to be built at the site and some members might be earmarking the property by placing the signboard and much should not be read into it.

Mussoorie SDM Hargiri said he had directed the police to look into the matter and asked both parties involved in the dispute to maintain status quo till further investigation.
