Dehradun, June 25

Residents of Landour Market, Butcher Khana and Hotel Ganesh are facing an acute shortage of water these days.

The residents under the leadership of local MC ward member Beena Panwar met Jal Sansthan executive engineer SK Saini and raised slogans against the department.

They threatened to launch an agitation if regular water supply was not restored at the earliest. In wake of the tourist season, residents have to walk several kilometres to fetch water.

The Landour Cantonment Board, Mullingar, Hotel Ganesh, Lakshman Puri, Landour Bazaar and Kulri Bazaar are the worst-affected areas. The residents said due to inadequate pressure water was not reaching overhead tanks. The use of pumps to draw water was worsening the situation.

Meanwhile, SK Saini said he would look into the matter at the earliest.
