Dehradun, April 25
A tiger yesterday mauled to death a woman at Tanakpur in Champawat district of Kumaon division of Uttarakhand.
The incident happened in Kakralee area when the victim, Radha Devi (46), had gone to collect twigs in a forest when she was attacked by a tiger last evening. When Radha did not return home till late evening, her husband Dhan Singh informed the police about the matter.
A search led to Radha’s half-eaten body being recovered from the forest in the wee hours this morning. Forest Department officials, who reached the incident site, fixed two camera traps to locate the tiger. A cage was also installed in the area. The authorities concerned are also keeping a close watch in the area after the incident. — TNS
