The Sanjhi Chat Vikas Samiti and Chetna Charitable Trust organised a seminar on self-employment programme with an aim to motivate women of financially backward classes to get involved in self- employment projects here yesterday. During the seminar, social activists made the women aware about the various schemes and techniques through which they can start up their own work. On the occasion, a product ‘Chetna Agarbatti,’ incense sticks made by self-employed women group was launched by the organisation.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Congress leader and chief guest Asha Manorama Sharma by lighting the traditional lamp. Speaking on the occasion, she said,“In current scenario women has to get financially independent. This will not only strengthen her family economically but also increase her reputation in the society.” Self-employment is the best way to earn livelihood and it doesn’t need heavy investment, machinery or labour to start such projects. State and Central governments are providing loans for these projects, she added.
Sardar Harjeet Singh, president, Sanjhi Chat Vikas Samiti said, “Till now our organisation has trained 140 women in various self-employment projects. We will organise consultant camps to add more women in different parts of the city.” Ashiya Khan, Guljar Singh, Harjeet Kaur, Himanshu Lodhi and Pooja Jetli were present on the occasion.
