Haridwar, December 21

Hundreds of activists of the Youth Congress today held a protest rally seeking a reply from Yoga Guru Ramdev over his silence on the black money issue during the Lok Sabha elections.

The activists gheraoed the Divya Yog Mandir ashram at Kankhal along the Ganga canal and raised slogans against the BJP government and Ramdev.

Earlier, the party activists led by president Bhuwan Kapdi and Haridwar Lok Sabha youth wing in charge Ram Vishal Deo, held a meeting at the Rishikul ground.

Addressing the gathering, Bhuwan Kapdi questioned Ramdev’s silence over the black money issue, which he had claimed would be brought back from foreign bank accounts if the BJP was voted to power at the Centre.

Kapdi said more than 200 days had passed since the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power, but the Union Government had failed to bring black money back.

Meanwhile, police personnel were deployed on the premises of the Divya Yog Mandir ashram in wake of the protest march.

The activists tried to barge in the Divya Yog Mandir ashram, but the police used barricades at the entrance and connecting routes to stop them.

Heated arguments were exchanged between the activists and the police. Circle Officer Chandra Mohan Singh and Kankhal station house officer Ritesh Shah pacified the protesters. Officials of the Patanjali Yogpeeth were not available for comments.
