15 pc increase with IT sector in focus

Hiring in February has seen an increase of 15 per cent compared with the previous month, with the IT sector being in the focus.

Hiring in February has seen an increase of 15 per cent compared with the previous month, with the IT sector being in the focus. These were the findings of a report by a job portal. “Though the Jobspeak index has shown just 1 per cent Y-O-Y growth in February, the good news is the month-on-month growth of over 15 per cent in February compared with January. We can expect the job market to be volatile for the next few months before it tends to move north again,” V. Suresh, Chief Sales Officer, Naukri.com, said.

“Key industries like IT-Software and BPO/ITES saw an eight per cent and 21 per cent growth respectively in February compared with January,” according to Naukri.com’s JobSpeak Index — a survey which tracks monthly hiring activities online. According to the survey, among metros, Delhi/National Capital Region recorded 20 per cent increase in jobs during February.

“Increase in hiring activity in major metro cities during February has contributed to the overall rise in hiring activity in the job market.
