Washington: A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico on Tuesdya, the US Geological Survey reported. The quake struck at 1051 GMT in the ocean 105 km southwest of Manzanillo, the USGS reported. There were no immediate reports of damage. AFP
Sharif discharged after heart surgery
London: Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif has been discharged from hospital, a week after successfully undergoing an open-heart surgery here. Sharif’s wife Kulsum Nawaz and his two sons Hassan and Hussain accompanied him from the Harley Street Clinic to his house in the British capital on Monday evening. PTI
Composer of Nepali national anthem dead
Kathmandu: Amber Gurung, the legendary Nepali musician and composer of the country's national anthem, died on Tuesday and was cremated here with full state honours. Born and raised in Darjeeling, Gurung, 78, composed more than a 1,000 songs in his 40-year career. He was suffering from diabetes and Parkinson's disease. PTI
