New York: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to become the world’s richest man on Thursday. Bezos’ worth rose to $90.7bn (£69bn) following a 2.4% rise in Amazon shares on Thursday, eclipsing Gates’ wealth by $700m. According to Forbes, 53-year-old Bezos is the owner of about 17% of the shares in Amazon, their value now exceeding $500bn. Asia’s Nobel for helping save Angkor Wat
Manila: A Japanese historian, Yoshiaki Ishizawa, 79, who helped save Cambodia’s renowned Angkor Wat temple complex was among the winners of this year's Magsaysay Awards, widely regarded as Asian version of the Nobel Prize.
