Use the right entrance charm

Entrance of a house should draw positivity into the house and its inhabitants. It is customary to put some good-luck symbol, image of some god or goddess, or something that deflects bad luck just above the door to ensure that each time you open the main door, happiness, prosperity, health and good people enter your abode. Idols of Lord Ganesha at the entrance or above the front door are a common feature in Indian homes. As some people believe that placing Lord Ganesha with his back to the house is inauspicious, so another statue or picture of him is placed on the inner side of the entrance. This, it seems, will make things all right. But, according to Vaastu it does not. There are certain reasons because of which it is not advised to have a Ganesha idol at the entrance. Firstly, Lord Ganesha is always worshipped first -Sarvapratham Pujaniya. The Ganesha vandana is sung first while invoking the gods. Even during Diwali, Lakshmi puja, Lakshmi and Ganesha are worshipped together. For a god of this primal importance, guarding your doorway is not suitable work. Unwittingly, leaving or entering a house with Lord Ganesha on both sides of the door, makes people face his back on both occasions. Another important reason why Lord Ganesha should not be placed above front door is that he was once asked by his mother, Parvati to stand guard while she bathed. Lord Ganesha did not let his own father, Lord Shiva enter the premises and this angered his father who beheaded him. Many people believe this doorway placement can cause trouble. So, to avoid a similar situation, place Ganesha idol at a proper place inside the house. Gods are meant to be worshipped. They should be in the zones of their full strength. Lord Ganesha's idol can be kept in the north, south, east and west. In the north-east zone, it brings clarity and peace of mind. Lord Ganesha removes obstacles and brings happiness. Do not place the idol in the south-south-west zone (waste and expenditure), for obvious reasons.

Of course, the zonal strength of the door location, itself, also plays a major role. Out of possible 32 locations, there are good, medium and poor ones. The nature of your doorway can be ascertained by carrying out a four-step Vaastu evaluation. Any affliction, therein, can be simply treated using the appropriate method and material/symbol/ colour. A treated door can bring a major change in your life.

So, do not add to your problems by placing an idol of Lord Ganesha above your door. A simple 'Welcome' sign will suffice and your cheerful smile will usher in good luck into your home.
