A two-day programme on “Fundamentals of Critical Care Support Course (FCCS)” was organised by the Department of Critical Care Medicine and Anaesthesia of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital here today.
Course coordinator, Dr PL Gautam, profesor of Anaesthesiology, said Fundamental Critical Care Support Course was a major resource for those who were interested in recognizing the various aspects of critical illness and initiate care for the critically ill patients.
Principal Dr Sandeep Puri said Critical Care Medicine was a relatively new but increasingly important medical specialty.
Dr PL Gautam spoke on ‘Assessment of seriously ill patients’ followed by deliberation on ‘Airway Management’ and ‘Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’ by Dr Vikash Saini and Dr Shikha Gupta, respectively.
Other topics covered on the first day of the programme includes ‘Monitoring Blood Flow, Oxygenation and Acid-Base Status’ by Dr Vivek Gupta, ‘Diagnosis and Management of Shock’ by Dr Vinay Singhal and ‘Diagnosis and Management of Acute Respiratory Failure’ by Dr Vikash Saini.
