Delhi govt collects Rs 11,852-cr tax

The Commissioner of Trade and Taxes, Delhi government, Sanjiv Khirwar said the department has collected tax of Rs 11,852.58 crore which is an increase of Rs 712.58 crore as compared to previous year up to the date.

The Commissioner of Trade and Taxes, Delhi government, Sanjiv Khirwar said the department has collected tax of Rs 11,852.58 crore  which is an increase of Rs 712.58 crore as compared to previous year up to the date.
He said the department has got conducted 45 surveys in which Rs 201.03 lakh tax has been realised. Fifty-one detained vehicles have been released in which tax of Rs 29.82 lakh has been collected.
The date of submission of online returns in Form-9 has been extended up to January 9, 2015.
The department has taken stringent action against a number of bogus dealers and tax evaders in Delhi. The Enforcement Branch of the department has conducted a number of raids in the city by constituting various inspection teams of the officers.
Khirwar said the department is committed to ensure recovery of tax and to take stringent action against the fraudulent dealers and tax evaders. He said during last week in November Value Added Tax inspectors visited such bogus dealers.
He said five bogus risk dealers with bogus declared turnover of Rs 73.25 crore in 2013-14 were identified and registration certificate of these dealers cancelled. Input Tax Credit of Rs 64.90 lakh were also disallowed during this week. The Commissioner has also directed to detect the chain of sale of such dealers and issued instruction to take strict action as per the provision of DVAT Act 2004.
