Gang of thieves busted

The Jalandhar rural police, which had recently busted a gang of thieves, today again busted a gang of burglars and apprehended six persons in this regard.

The Jalandhar rural police, which had recently busted a gang of thieves, today again busted a gang of burglars and apprehended six persons in this regard.

The gang members had been planning to strike at a house, but their plan was foiled by the rural police.

The arrested accused were identified as Malkit Singh, alias Peeta, a native of Fatehgarh Sahib, and presently a resident of Lambra, Amandeep, alias Aman, of Lambra, Jagpreet Singh, alias Jagga, of Lambra, Harjit Singh, alias Jeeta, of Lambra, Jagdish, alias Deesha, of Tarar village in Lambra and Gurmeet Singh, alias Geeta, of Lambra.

The gang was busted by the Lambra police. During routine patrolling near Malko Tarar village in Lambra, a police party got information that some armed gang members were planning to strike at a house in the village, which had been lying locked for months.

The police party raided the specific spot and nabbed the gang members.

During preliminary investigation, the gang members had confessed that they had committed dozens of burglaries in the Jalandhar city and rural areas. About 15 robberies have already been traced with the arrest of the gang members. More cases of theft are likely to be solved in further investigation, the police said.

The gang had committed most of the burglaries at electronic shops. The gang members had also stolen some motorcycles from the region, of which two were recovered.

The police had recovered two motorcycles, including a Pulsar and a Passion, several sharp-edged weapons, three LCDs, two DVDs, a television, two washing machines, two refrigerators, speakers, two dinner sets, two gas cylinders, one home theatre and a pedestal fan.

Notably, on December 6 as well, the rural police had busted an inter-state gang of thieves and had arrested five of its members. Two four-wheelers, pistols and many other stolen goods were also recovered from them.
