The Delhi Police are yet to identify the two robbers who shot dead a security guard of a cash van, which was refilling an ATM in Kamla Nagar market, north Delhi, and stole Rs 1.5 crore last week.
"We have not been able to identify them as yet. It is a blind case," said police sources.
Several police teams, including those of the North District of the Delhi Police where the crime took place, and the Crime Branch are investigating the robbery.
The sources added that the CCTV camera footage of the ATM clearly shows the number plate of the motorcycle used by the robbers. "But the number plate is fake. And the motorcycle is probably stolen," said the sources, adding that the vehicle is yet to be recovered. The police are tracing the route taken by the cash van.
The police are verifying the antecedents of the employees of the cash van company. "No insider involvement has come to light as yet," said the sources.
The police are also trying to identify the "bad characters" in the area.
Investigators are also examining if there are robbers who have the same modus operandi that was used in the present incident. The sources said there are differences in the robbery which was committed at Kamla Nagar and the one which took place at an ATM in Gurgaon.
