Ryan International School, Jamalpur, Ludhiana, celebrated maths week. Students of Classes III to X participated in different activities, especially designed for their level. Students of Classes III to V participated in activities such as puzzle-making (using tessellations), poster-making (using different geometrical shapes) and quiz. Students of Classes VI to VIII participated in activities such as finding perimeter of the fountain and the school garden. Story narration related to maths intra-class quiz and Hardy Ramanujan activity were the other activities conducted at the middle level. The senior students showcased their mathematical interest by preparing prodigious maths projects in groups, preparing individual maths dictionary and wizard. The week culminated with exhibition of maths-based projects.

Simulated snowfall at Cherubs Preschool

Simulated snowfall was organised for students at Cherubs Preschool. A snowman was also made on the premises. Children were excited to see the snowman. The teachers, on the occasion, explained the concept of snow fall and snowman to children.

BCM school observes ‘GANIT Week’

As per the directions of the CBSE to observe the birth anniversary of Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, BCM Senior Secondary School celebrated GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations and Training) Week. To enhance to logical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills of the students, mathematics quiz, essay-writing, origami and poster-making competitions were organised. Dr Khushvinder Kumar, principal, MM Modi College, Patiala, delivered a motivational lecture to the students of science stream about the importance and application of maths in real life. Principal of the school DP Guleria appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers.

Poster-making contest

DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, organised a number of activities related to the mathematics. The motive was to make the otherwise tough subject more interesting and to reduce the phobia of understanding it. The school organised a lecture for the senior students by Prof GS Sandhu, professor in mathematics and head of the Computer Science Department at SCD Government College. An essay-writing competition was also organised for the Classes V to XII. A film produced by ‘Vigyan Prasar’ was also screened for the students. Origami and poster-making competition were also conducted for the junior students.

Mono acting competition

Ram Lal Bhasin Public School organised a mono acting competition. Students from Classes III to V took part in it. Principal Suman Arora said these competitions are conducted to see and observe if the already talented students need more guidance or practice.

Puppet theatre

Bal Bharati Public School organised puppet theatre for the students of Montessori. The story of ‘The elves and the shoemaker’ was presented in an elaborative way. The friendship of elves was perceived through music and melody. The handmade and brightly coloured puppets drew the attention of children. The musical fiesta was shaped with simplicity and precision that enlivened the characters. The students enjoyed watching puppets dangling on the stage. Principal Punam Dogra said puppets are related to childhood fantasies.

Annual prize distribution

An annual prize distribution function was held at St Bawra Public High School. The function started with shabad by the students followed by a couple of patriotic theme-based performances. A group dance on the theme ‘Keep earth clean and green’ was also presented. Small acts on the issue of child labour were also performed on the occasion. The school choir presented a patriotic performance as well. Kavi samelan was the main attraction of the function. Principal Chander Prabha gave away prizes to meritorious students and encouraged the students to study hard. 

School celebrates Xmas

Christmas was celebrated at St Xavier Playway School on Monday. The whole school was t decorated. Children came to school in colourful dresses and many of them were dressed as Santa Claus and fairies. Various fun games such as balloon burst, musical chair, colour recognition game and one minute show were organised on the occasion. Children danced to the tunes of Christmas carols. A Christmas cake was cut on the occasion. — TNS
