The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sent a communication to UT Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) regarding an FIR being registered against the Superintending Engineer (SE) of the municipal corporation.
A case against former municipal corporation (MC) Chief Engineer SK Bansal, former Superintending Engineer (SE) SR Aggarwal, RC Diwan the then XEN, who is at present the SE, Public Health, has been registered for allegedly giving undue benefit to Selvel Media Services Pvt in the maintenance of public toilets and advertising.
The officials of Selvel Media have also been booked by the CBI in the case.
CBI (SP) Tarun Gauba said that they had sent a copy of the FIR to the CVC, the UT to intimate him regarding the MC official being booked in the case.
Sources said that further probe in the case would be initiated and evidences in the case would be collected. “The accused will also be asked to join the investigation and present their side of the view in the case”, the SP added.
The case has been registered for allegedly giving undue benefit to Selvel Media in bagging a tender for the operation and maintenance of 86 public toilets and advertisement between 2007 and 2012. The tender was allegedly manipulated and the advertisement fee was waived, the sources said.
CBI sources said that the former councillors who were the members of the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) in 2007 would also be questioned in the case. The bureaucrats who were holding the office during that period would also be asked to join the investigation.
