Bathinda, December 8

The much-awaited sangat darshan held by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Basant Garg 7 lasted only for an hour and left several complainants asking for an audience with the DC. The last sangat darshan was held on July 2.

The sangat darshan which, was officially scheduled to start at 10 am ended by 11 am, despite the fact that the complainants were told that they would be able to register themselves for the programme between 9 am to 11 am.

Many like Chet Singh who came to complain against the illegal encroachment on the land adjacent to a water connection from canal in Rama Mandi, were scheduled to meet the DC in his office. But the sangat darshan was wrapped up by the time he reached the District Administrative Complex.

Madhola Singh, a resident of Rampura, was expecting to meet senior officials from various departments during the programme and was sure that his complaint would be dealt with quickly. He was disappointed to see that the programme had ended too early.

Headed by Achhar Singh, members of the managing committee of Gurdwara Jand Saheb in Guru Har Sahai also met the DC demanding that the area of the gurdwara be demarcated again as per the old records.

Hardam Singh(85), a resident of Kamalu Swaich village, complained against the Maur Mandi tehsildar for erroneous girdwari of his land.

Baljit Kaur of Bathinda complained against senior police officials for not looking into her complaint against her in-laws for demanding dowry.

The DC said sangat darshan was the best way of redressing problems of people and added that all 54 applications received during the last sangat darshan had been resolved.

“The complaints received today, too, will be redressed,” the DC said.

During the sangat darshan, he listened to the problems pertaining to domestic feud, differences over ownership of land and discrepancies in voters’ lists among other things.

ADC (general) Sumit Jarangal, ADC (development) Sonali Giri, SP (H) Jasvir Singh, SDM Bathinda Damanjit Singh Mann, SDM, Talwandi Sabo, Vinay Kumar, assistant commissioner (general) Narinder Dhaliwal, assistant commissioner (grievances) Charumita and officers from other departments were also present on the occasion.

It is pertinent to note that during the last sangat darshan held on July 2, the DC had announced that weekly reports on the cases would be sought from the departments concerned and all the cases would be solved before the next sangat darshan. While today he announced that all the 54 cases presented during the sangat darshan held in July had been solved. Complainants claimed that their issues were yet to be resolved.
