Animal exhibition concludes at Vallah

The cow owned by two brothers Ravi Inder and Preet Inder’s of Nag Khurd village yielded 52 litres of milk at an animal exhibition held at Vallah near here. The second and the third positions in the category were also bagged by their cows

The earlier record of the highest milk yield was 50 litres at an annual animal exhibition organised at Vallah. The cows who were placed on the second and the third positions yielded 48 and 46 litres of milk respectively.

The animals of Sahib Singh, Harbans Singh Malhi, Gurchet Singh were adjuged the best in the best-breed categories. In the two-day event that concluded today, a sum amounting to Rs 5.15 lakh was distributed as awards to the winners of various categories. Pawan Kumar Malhotra, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, said animals which have won awards in various categories would participate in the state-level competition. He said that more than 1,000 animals were brought to the exhibition. Malhotra congratulated the winners and exhorted them to further improve the breeds. He said animal husbandry was a good option to supplement one’s income. —TNS
