S’pore, Japan to help build new AP capital

The new capital city in Andhra Pradesh will replicate the best international practices in terms of design, planning and construction.

The new capital city in Andhra Pradesh will replicate the best international practices in terms of design, planning and construction.
 
While Singapore has agreed to help in the preparation of a master plan, several companies from Japan have evinced interest in building a world class city, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said. He has just returned from a six-day tour of Japan during which he met Japanese PM Shinzo Abe who promised to extend full cooperation to AP in building a world-class capital city. Earlier last month, Naidu had visited Singapore and interacted with CEOs of several companies to attract investments into the state.
 
"Replicating the best practices of countries like Singapore and Japan will be a deadly combination," said Naidu who is known for his penchant for infusing corporate culture in the administration.
 
A separate cell would be opened in the state industries department to interact with Japanese firms for speedy clearances, the Chief Minister adding that the cell would be manned by a few escort executives who speak Japanese.
 
Though Hyderabad will serve as a common capital for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for a period of ten years before becoming permanent capital of Telangana, the 29th state of the country, the Chandrababu Naidu government is keen on fast tracking construction of a new capital city.
