Moderate quake shakes Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter Scale shook Guwahati and its neighbouring areas this morning, a Met office report said here.



Guwahati, December 21

A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter Scale shook Guwahati and its neighbouring areas this morning, a Met office report said here.

The earthquake occurred at 11:07 am and had its epicentre at latitude 24.3-degree North and longitude 94.5-degree East in the Myanmar-India (Manipur) border region, the report said.

The tremor was at a depth of 80 km, it added.

No loss of life or damage to property due to the earthquake has been reported so far, the police said. — PTI
