5-yr-old raped, one held

The Chandigarh Police have booked a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl at Mani Majra.

Chandigarh, December 9

The Chandigarh Police have booked a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl at Mani Majra.

The accused has been identified as Shankar Singh, a native of Uttarakhand.

Shankar, a labourer, was residing at Kishangarh village.

Police sources said the incident took place on Monday afternoon, when the victim’s mother left her on the roof of her residence.

The accused allegedly abducted the victim and took her to a nearby jungle area and violated her.

Finding the child missing, the girl’s family launched a search operation for her. The victim’s parents happened to notice Shankar carrying the child near the jungle.

The victim was rushed to the government hospital where she is currently under treatment. The doctors confirmed that she had been raped.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station. The police are investigating
