Despite of the the bird flu alert in the city, the sale of chicken and eggs go on unabated in the city. Orders for chicken dishes were being place as usual in restaurants.
“The demand for eggs and chicken has in fact increased in the past two to three days due to fall in mercury. The bird flu alert has not deterred either demands or cost of chicken or eggs here,” Sandeep Mehta, national vice-chairman, National Egg Coordination Committee.
The manager of Aroma’s 24-hour eatery, Yogesh Joshi, said, “Chicken is still the favourite amongst youngsters. Among families, demand for mutton has risen in the past couple of days but that is a common trend in winters.”
Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar, the president of the Meat Market association, Sector 21, said, “The demand remains the same. The cost of chicken is also unaffected.”
