Hearing and speech-impaired persons have raised the issue of violence and bias being meted out to them. Under the aegis of Deaf Dumb Association of Haridwar, members of this association cited various instances where they were targeted recently.

State president Sandeep Arora said that they are very much part of society as anyone and recent cases of violence have put questions on the social setup of the country.

Arora said that recently in Jaulan of Uttar Pradesh visually impaired people were canecharged ,which the association condemns in sharp words.

He also mentioned another case wherein for four days in Bihar specially abled people had resorted to a four-day agitation raising various demands, but no one from the state government or district administration listened to their demands.

Association members also tied black strips as a mark of protest at Chandra Charya square in this regard.
