A 28-year-old Indian was on Friday charged by a court here for allegedly raping and sodomising an Indonesian woman in Malaysia. Mohamad Aslam Abdul Hameed admitted to raping the woman and causing hurt to her. The offences were allegedly committed at a hotel room here. PTI

British woman jailed for promoting terror on Facebook
London:
A mother of six children, Runa Khan, from Luton has been jailed for five years and three months for promoting terrorism on Facebook wherein she posted pictures of a suicide vest and her children holding guns and swords. According to the BBC, Khan also passed details of a route to Syria to an undercover police officer. Judge Peter Birts QC said that what can be interpreted form the pictures is that Khan intended to radicalize others. The woman said in an interview that she was only posting her “belief”. She also said that she was not suggesting the killing of innocent people when she talked about jihad and that she spoke about suicide missions because it was a feared war tactic and should only be used in a battlefield. ANI

9 yrs on, Indian’s conviction overturned in Canada
Toronto:
An Indian-origin man's sexual assault conviction in Canada that led to his imprisonment and deportation has been overturned by a Canadian court, about nine years after the guilty verdict against him. A Court of Appeal in British Columbia has thrown out the 2005 conviction, which the Crown later admitted was a "miscarriage of justice," of Gurdev Singh Dhillon. PTI

Man charged with murder of Sikh waiter in 1998
London:
A man has been charged with murdering a Sikh waiter over 15 years ago, local media reported. 46-year-old Ronnie Coulter appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court in connection with Surjit Singh Chhokar's death in Overtown, North Lanarkshire in 1998, the Daily Record said. Chhokar, 32, was allegedly stabbed to death by Coutler. PTI

Indian fisherman found dead in Pak jail
Karachi:
An Indian fisherman, Devo Mand Kansaro, 30, was on Thursday found dead under mysterious circumstances in a jail here, prompting Pakistani authorities to order a probe into the death. Jail authorities claimed Kansaro, arrested in March for fishing in Pakistan’s waters in the Arabian sea, had died from natural causes after complaining chest pain and no torture marks were found on his body. PTI
