Exhibition
Chandigarh: AKSIPS, Sector 45, organised an exhibition on sustainable development. Students were motivated to conserve natural resources.
Special assembly
National Energy Conservation Day was observed at Banyan Tress School, Sector 48. Eco-club members presented a special assembly and made students take an oath to conserve energy.
Annual function
Green Castle School, Sector 47, organised its annual function. Students presented a colourful extravaganza on the occasion.
Blood donation
The National Service Scheme unit of Shishu Niketan Model School, in collaboration with GMCH, Sector 32, organised a blood donation camp on the school premises. Parents, alumni and staff contributed to the noble cause.
Visit to museum
MDAV School, Sector 22, organised a visit to the Doll Museum for the pre-primary wing. The tiny- tots enjoyed the event.
Elocution competition
An elocution competition was held at KBDAV School, Sector 7. Nearly 200 students spoke on various topics, including importance of time, save girl child and value of discipline.
Cultural fiesta
RIMT World School celebrated its annual cultural fiesta ‘Rhapsody’ at the Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula. The students staged a musical, “Mother Nature”. It revolved around dangers to the environment from the mankind. The programme saw many dance performances, including an Arabian dance.
Noble cause
Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, organised a blood donation camp in association with the Department of Transfusion and Medicine, PGI. Members of the faculty, parents and volunteers came forward for the noble cause. Around 150 units of blood were collected.
Children introduced to programming codes
Delhi Public School celebrated Computer Science Education Week. Class VII students were introduced to programming codes. The students were exposed to fun and easy-to-learn programming languages such as Scratch.
Educational tour
Panchkula: The students of St Soldier’s School, Sector 16, visited Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala. During the educational tour, they went to the planetarium and climate change centre besides seeing the world of dinosaurs and a 3-D movie.
Cultural extravaganza
Hallmark Public School, Sector 15, organised “Prelude 2014”, a cultural extravaganza to mark the annual day celebrations, at the Government Girls College auditorium, Sector 42, Chandigarh. A Bharatanatyam performance by Classes VI and VII students was the highlight.
Prize distribution
Mohali: Sant Isher Singh Public School, Sector 70, organised the annual day and prize distribution function “Udaan—2014”. The celebration started with lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by “Ganesh Vandana”. Cultural items of different states were also presented.
Mock parliament
Shemrock Senior Secondary School organised a mock parliament for the students of Classes IX and X. The exercise aimed at creating awareness among the students about the functioning of the top legislative body of the country. The students enacted the roles of MPs from the ruling and opposition parties besides ministers and the Speaker.
Acrobatics
Students of Classes III, IV and V presented acrobatic items during a special event at St Soldier School. The “Teeny Bopper Circus” commenced with a flag parade followed by juggling acts. The clowns had the audience in splits. — TNS
