Hisar, November 30

Poor maintenance of government quarters has been posing threat to the occupants of Rental colony near the railway station here.

Residents complained that some buildings were in a bad shape. “Children playing in a house had a narrow escape two days ago when a portion of a roof came off. Similarly, a portion of a roof caved in recently in a house. The occupants had to shift to another house,” complaint Satyadev Sihag, a resident.

A park in the locality is lying unattended for many months. “There is no regular sweeper in the locality and we have to dispose of the garbage outside the colony on our own,” residents said. Even doors and windows of most of the houses are in a shambles. The PWD officials were not carrying out any repair work here, they said.

Another occupant said the Public Works Department (Building and Roads) had carried out repair works about six months ago after complaints from the occupants, but it didn't last long.

The locality has over 30 houses allotted to government officials. The colony was constructed about 40 years ago. A PWD official said they would soon carry out repair works.
