To protest the non-issuance of admit cards to 12 students of BA-BEd courses by the authorities, representatives of the Panjab University Students Union (PUSU), today went on a hunger strike.
While the admit cards for the examinations, that have already begun, were not issued to these 12 students due to inadequate attendance, the protesters claimed that each of them had at least 55 per cent attendance in the records.
“The attendance of some students was only 1 or 2 per cent lesser than the minimum required. On humanitarian grounds, we requested the authorities to provide admit cards to the students. While they have already missed one exam, the next one is scheduled for next week,” said Tajinder Dhiman, a PUSU activist.
Meanwhile, the students are currently sitting on a hunger strike in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
