The Siachen Brigade, under Operation Sadbhavana, organised a medical camp at Warish village to provide necessary medical assistance to the locals.
The camp was conducted to ameliorate the hardships and medical problems being faced by the population due to harsh terrain and weather, a Defence spokesperson said.
The camp also provided an opportunity to the Army and the locals to interact with each other.
Locals from Warish, Fasten and Sunudho villages participated in the camp. The people also brought their animals to the camp for veterinary assistance.
Free medicines were distributed and medical advice was also rendered to the locals. The dental officer carried out oral hygiene campaign for the children, the spokesperson said.
Around 160 locals were provided medical assistance during the camp. Veterinary aid was provided to 120 animals which included cows, ponies, goats and yaks.
The locals expressed their gratitude to the Army for providing the much required assistance in the form of medical and veterinary aid. They also expressed their desire for regular conduct of such camps.
