Top facilities for devotees attending Urs fair

For the upcoming Urs fair at Piran Kaliyar ,which enters the 746th year, organised in memory of renowned Makhdoom-ul Azam Hazrat Syed Alauddin Ahmed Sabir Kaliyari at Piran Kaliyar, Roorkee, in Haridwar , stress is on to provide best of basic facilities to the jayarins.

To be held later this month, Piran Kaliyar Urs draws lakhs of jayarins from across the country and globally, too. Keeping this in view, District Magistrate D Senthyl Pendiyan today visited and inspected the world famous Piran Kaliyar shrine.

To ensure best and timely facilities for the jayarins, appointment of Subdivisional Magistrate, Roorkee, Mohammed Nassir, has been done as the mela officer for this year’s Urs.

Holding a meeting with Piran Kaliyar Sharif Board members and administrative officials, DM Pendiyan stressed on providing good services and facilities to the coming pilgrims.

The DM also gave specific attention to the security cover for the Urs mela, as recent December 5 Roorkee blast has indicated that security also needs to be given top priority.

Giving deadline of December 20, 2014, for completion of all the basic infrastructure works, Pendiyan said that after this date he will himself make a visit to the Dargah premises to know the status of works carried out by the departments and the board.

“Water, power, toilets, sanitation and cleanliness need to be given utmost importance. Traffic congestion is another aspect which needs to be dealt by the administration. For making the Piran Kaliyar mela a notified area, a proposal in this regard has been sent to the state government,’’ said Pendiyan.

Chief Development Officer Ranjana, Joint Magistrate Mayur Dixit, SP City Surjeet Singh Pawar, SDM Bhagwanpur Pratyush Singh,CMO Sushma Gupta,DSO Rahul Sharma have also directed their respective subordinates to ensure timebound completion of facilities for the jayarins before Urs commences.
