Chandigarh, December 11

Following a series of protests against fee hike carried out by students representing various parties at the PU, the PU Campus Student Council today staged a protest outside the VC’s office.

Representing the entire student strength of over 14,000, council president Divyanshu submitted a memoradum to the authorities. The representatives covered their faces with black scarves to demonstrate against the proposed fee hike of 5 per cent. The matter was taken up in a meeting of the Board of Finance held today.

“The PU has cited financial budget crisis as a reason for increasing the fee. Why should students bear with the financial crunch,” said Divyanshu, adding that it would have unnecessary burden on parents sending their wards to study here. — TNS
