Railway GM gheraoed by union members

The Northern Railway Men’s Union today gheraoed the General Manager of Northern Railway Pradeep Kumar at the city railway station. Kumar had come to inspect the functioning of Jalandhar railway but he faced the wrath of union members.

Union members raised slogans and demanded that their pending demands should be met with immediate effect. They also submitted a memorandum to the general manager. They were demanded that private hospital be registered for the treatment of railway employees, timely disbursal of pensions to retired employees, construction of community hall at Ludhiana and improvement in sewerage system at railway quarters. —TNS
