Panchayat staff criticised for poorly built roads

SIRSA: The Panchayat Department officials were criticised by Nejadela villagers at the first open darbar of the district administration today.

Sirsa, December 19

The Panchayat Department officials were criticised by Nejadela villagers at the first open darbar of the district administration today.

Villagers alleged the department had constructed the streets thrice, but due to the poor quality of material used and the faulty construction of the drains, the villagers were facing problems.

It was found that the Panchayat Department had released payments of the contractors without checking the quality of the work done.

The executive engineer of the Panchayat and Development Department, who was asked to explain his position by Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Gajraj, said the junior engineer checked the quality of work before clearing the bills.

However, the villagers maintained they had never seen the junior engineer in the village. — TNS
