Ludhiana, December 17
The work of the Lakkar over-bridge, which had to be completed by the Railways only after getting all clearances, started here with the fixation of girders.
The project, which is already too late, is now expected to be completed within two months, claimed Railways officials.
The Railways Superintendent, Ludhiana, RK Sharma, said work on the remaining part had to be completed by the Railways. Not much work was left on it.
“All payments have been made to the Railways by the Municipal Corporation and a little work was left. We hope that the engineers will complete it by February,” said Sharma.
MC Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal said the Railways authorities were approached to start the completion process soon.
They had indicated that they would complete it within two months, said Pradeep. All dues/payments had already been made to the authorities to do the needful.
Meanwhile, girders were installed by Railway engineers at the incomplete sight today.
Construction of the Lakkar bridge was started almost 15 years ago. But it missed several deadlines for one reason or the other. Residents will heave a sigh of relief once it is completed.
