The show goes on

Role call: Payal Rajput

Actress Payal Rajput, who was last seen in television show Gustakh Dil, returns to television with Mahakumbh. She talks about her role and more.

How did the show happen for you?

Mahakumbh is a big break. I was playing the lead in Aakhir Bahu Bhi Toh Beti Hee Hai and it got over in August. But I wanted a break from saas-bahu sagas, so I took my time. I went for the audition but when they told me the show is titled Mahakumbh, I wanted to leave. I didn’t want to do a mythological show. But they asked me to read the script; I did and was really impressed. So I said yes.

Tell us something about your role.

I play Maya. She is a strong girl, doesn’t cry very easily. She knows how to handle a situation and also how to deal with others. She is mature and the same time is vulnerable.

How has been the experience shooting for the show?

Right from our director Gautam to all the crew members, everyone is really nice on the sets. We shot in Benaras and Allahabad for more than a month because the story is based there.

What are your expectations from the show?

My only expectation is that the audience will appreciate it. We have tried to make it as real as possible.

How do you stay fit?

Honestly speaking, I don’t like to do much. I used to be plump earlier, but then I decided to stop eating unhealthy food. Now I just eat healthy and remain stress-free. That’s all I do to stay fit.
