Dehradun, December 5

The Indian Military Academy (IMA) organised its graduation ceremony at Chetwode Hall here today.

A total of 58 cadets of the Army Cadet College (ACC) Wing graduated. The cadets of 104 course were awarded their degrees during a ceremony.

Among the 58 cadets, 27 were from science stream and 31 from humanities. The degrees were conferred on the cadets by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Lt Gen Manvender Singh, Commandant, IMA, presided over the function.

The Army Cadet College has a history of training the selected personnel from other ranks of all the three services, who have the potential to become officer in the Indian Army.

Brig AS Chahal, Commander, Army Cadet College Wing, presented the college report. He spoke about the high standards and admirable academic performance shown by the cadets of the graduating course.

The Commandant, IMA, congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their training at the Army Cadet College Wing.

The commandant’s banner was given to Nubra Coy. The Banner is awarded to the company, which excels in various competitions like sports, academics, camps, debates and discipline.

The medal winners said they were one step short of their dream of becoming officers of the Indian Army.

Hailing from Kumbakhera, a small village near Hisar, Wing Cadet Captain Jag Parvesh, who won the Chief of Army Staff gold medal, said his unit officers motivated him to join the ACC.

“I was a signalman in Corps of Signals for five years. The biggest motivation and guidance came from my senior unit officers,” he said.

The charm for blazing guns prompted Ram Nath Yadav to join the ACC.

“I was always attracted to the guns. I want to join artillery after completing one-year training at the IMA,” said Yadav, who served as the leading seaman in the Indian Navy for five years.
