Terror ‘strikes’ villagers

Unaware of the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in captive ducks and geese at Sukhna Lake, residents of Kishangarh village, situated just next to the lake, thought that the lake was closed due to a possible terrorist attack following the Peshawar incident in Pakistan.

Unaware of the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in captive ducks and geese at Sukhna Lake, residents of Kishangarh village, situated just next to the lake, thought that the lake was closed due to a possible terrorist attack following the Peshawar incident in Pakistan. It was only after local leaders went from door-to-door to inform the residents of the village about the H5N1 virus, the residents came to know that it was due to infection the people were being restricted from going to the lake.

Wheels’ puzzle

Commenting on the view of one of the Senator that the university is dependent on three wheels which are the teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students, PU Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover clarified that it was dependent on four wheels and the fourth wheel being the 192 affiliated colleges which were an important part of Panjab University.

Protest worry

Following protest by the District Court advocates against the attitude of some commissioners deployed to write evidence in court, the already short staffed stenographers got worried. The stenographers apprehended that if the services of commissioners were withdrawn, their workload would be doubled. Thankfully, the issue was sorted out amicably.

After the story of Panchkula policemen enjoying closed-door nap last Sunday appeared in the coloumns of the Tribune, several policemen began sending their photographs to the reporter while on night duty on Whatsapp stating ‘We are patrolling’

It was an uncomfortable moment for UT Animal Husbandry Joint Director Dr Lovlesh Kant when he on the request of the media for a picture in the personnel protective equipment kit wore the kit in a hurry placing his one arm into the space meant for leg. 

Embarrassment for councillor

At a programme oragnsied by the Yuva Morcha, Chandigarh, to celebrate the birthday of former prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee brought embarrassing moment to organisers of the programme when by slip of tounge one of the BJP councillor, who is the Leader of  Opposition in the MC, paid tributes to Vajpayee instead of wishing him. This was clarified by another BJP leader who was sitting among the audience.
