Chandigarh, December 21

The annual sporty musical soiree had a different feel to it at Strawberry Fields Kindergarten, Sector 24, this afternoon. Like many other institutes and celebrities who have expressed their grief at the senseless killing of schoolchildren at Peshawar, the young students, too, expressed solidarity with the families in mourning.

Through each of their sporty activity, they exemplified a never-say-die attitude, resolving not to buckle under influences that are anti-nationalist, and to stand by one another. The children, all in the age group of three to five years, delighted the audience by demonstrating simple things in ways that were extremely heartwarming on a cold December afternoon.

Flags that dotted the venue, immaculate flower beds and trees that framed the playgrounds, bright track suits of the performers and props that supported each event added colours to the event.

For “The Circus”, nursery students pranced around the grounds as jugglers, lion tamers, monkeys and elephants with large-sized animal cutouts in the background. In “Balloon Town”, they created the ambiance of a cheerful and friendly township where residents trusted each another and stood by each other in crises. In “Superstars”, the students of lower kindergarten showed their sporty moves with zest, demonstrating their readiness to face any adversity.

In “Robotic Harmony”, nursery students gave a clear indication of times to come and of how robots would aid human endeavour in challenging situations, like they did in the recent Sydney hostage crises. In “Cheer Leaders”, lower kindergarten students showed the collective power of oneness with confidence.

The races with endearing names such as “Soaring Kites”, “Speedy Ladybirds”, “Seasons Catch” And “Wobbly Balloons” had parents cheering for the children as they rushed to the finishing line.

The icing on the cake was the march past, which saw the children marching and taking the salute. Another unique feature of the show was the absence of a chief guest. The parents were the guests of honour, who seemed to have a great time. The show concluded with Santa Claus’s arrival on a camel. He distributed gifts among all.
