Shimla, December 9

The HP High Court today adjourned the hearing in the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) case till December 23.

The matter was listed before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan today. During the course of hearing, the counsel for the HPCA sought adjournment.

In its petition, the HPCA has prayed that no criminal proceedings be initiated against them and the government be prohibited from taking action against them under Societies’ Registration Act.

The HPCA had challenged the decision of the government to cancel the lease granted in favour of the HPCA and take over its premises, which was later withdrawn by the government.

However, the state in its reply had stated that the decision of October 26, 2013, to cancel lease in the favour of HPCA and to take control of property had been withdrawn by the government on November 18, 2013, and on account of this development, most of the prayers made in the writ petition had become infructuous.
