Horrific attack With reference to the editorial “Horrific terror attacks” (December 17), wanton killing of innocent school children at Peshawar has shaken the international community.

With reference to the editorial “Horrific terror attacks” (December 17), wanton killing of innocent school children at Peshawar has shaken the international community. All sensible human beings empathise and mourn with the aggrieved families. India should fly seriously injured children from Peshawar to good hospitals in India for continuing treatment and counselling. The countries must find ways to eradicate terrorism. Innocent people must be spared the bullets of terrorists.

Pak, back peace

A few days ago, terrorist Hafiz Sayed held a rally in Lahore and the Pakistani establishment stood behind him and supported his nefarious designs. Now, so many children have been killed in Pakistan. Pakistan has never taken a clear stand against terrorism sponsored from its land. Terrorism is a double-edged sword. If Pakistan wants to be a peaceful country, it should join the peace-loving people of the world in the fight against terrorism.
Anil Kumar Jaswal, Gagret (Una)

Join for peace

The militants’ conspiracy in Sydney (Australia) and the brutal cold-blooded killing of school students of Peshawar in Pakistan by Taliban has sent shock waves. It is up to the heads of all countries to jointly form a mechanism to curb the menace of terror with an iron hand.
Rajat Kumar Mohindru, Jalandhar

Awakening call?

My eyes welled with tears when the Taliban took their war on a crowded school in Peshawar, ruthlessly killing 145 people, including 132 uniformed schoolchildren. Taliban feel proud of this deadly attack “in revenge against the killings of Taliban members.” But were these children and their families responsible for the state's policies or the country's mistakes?
Ishaq Dar, Pakistan finance minister, has said: “This is a time for us to show unanimity to root out militancy.” Pakistan should join hands with India and clear out the terrorists. That would be the true respect to the departed souls. Who knows this atrocity might be a turning point for the world, led by big powers taking steps to eradicate terrorism.
Bidyut Kumar Chatterjee, Faridabad

No justification

It is heart-breaking. Killing students? Justify that? There is no justification of killing anyone for any reason. Jihadists are capable of finding excuses for their barbarity. They are nothing more than a bunch of 'sick people' who use and bend religion for their own cause. The way to control them should be by defining and not defending their guilt.

Lesson for Pak

The world has been shaken by the terrorist attacks in Sydney and Peshawar. There is a saying what you sow, so shall you reap. Pakistan has done the blunder of nurturing, training and financing terrorists to strike in India and other places. It was done to mint huge money and fight an undeclared war with India. But terrorist have no religion, no sentiments, no loyalty and like a snake, they bite the agencies that nurture and protect them. The Pakistan Government is controlled by the army, radicals and terrorists who have been kept there and used for subversive activities against India. It is a lesson for Pakistan either to change its policies or perish. People of Pakistan can never be party to this approach of training and promoting terrorism of the government for its narrow and selfish ulterior motives.
Capt Amar Jeet Kumar, Mohali

Against religion

The terrorist attacks are disturbing and a matter of concern for the entire world. How can a handful of perverted persons hold the whole world to ransom? No religion condones such a heinous crime. All countries must introspect and join hands to eliminate such demons and make the earth a planet of peace.
Dr RS Kishtwaria, Palampur

Snake in backyard

Unfortunately, Pakistani schoolchildren had to pay the price for the blunders committed by their elders. This incident reminds me of the famous “snake in the backyard” advice once given to Pakistan by Hillary Clinton. But, Pakistan won't learn anything from this incident. People having poisonous intentions against India are held with high esteem in the Islamic nation.
Deepjot S Thukral, Ambala Cantt

Pak, introspect

The perpetrators of the attack on Peshawar schoolchildren can't claim to be humans. They are just terminator machines. The brutal killings have shaken the collective consciousness of all peace-loving nations. It is time for Pakistan to introspect and revisit its flawed anti-terrorist policy. After so many ghastly terror attacks all over the world masterminded by radicals from ita soil, it is a confirmed truth that Pakistan is a haven for terrorist outfits. Terrorists belong to no country, community or creed. To save the lives of millions of innocent people of its own country, Pakistan must acknowledge the fact that terrorism is not the solution to any problem and, eventually, it bites the hand that feeds it.
Prof Shifa Sikri, Ferozepur

Humanity dead?

The attack by Taliban in Pakistan has once again made us realise that terrorists can knock us down anytime. It is a disgrace to humanity. My heart goes to all my brothers and sisters in Pakistan. May God give power to the families of the terror victims.
ishmit oberoi, Ludhiana

United fight needed

Terrorism has once again shown its ugly face, this time in Pakistan, in the shape of the gruesome murder of innocent school students. A united fight against terror is the need of the hour. All countries should pool their might together to wipe out terrorism.
