Man strangulates wife to death

A man allegedly murdered his 30-year-old wife at Tibbi Mohalla in Kalka.

The police, confirming the incident, said Vijay Sharma strangulated her wife Ritu on Friday late night. Madan Sharma, brother of the accused, informed the police that Vijay was not opening the door that had been bolted from inside. The police broke open the door and found the body of the deceased on the bed. The accused was also present in the room. Vijay was arrested and the body was handed over to the parents of the victim after conducting the autopsy at the Kalka CHC. The deceased is survived by four-year-old son.

The parents of the deceased, who hail from Mohar village of Sirmour (HP), said their daughter was married to Vijay Sharma five years ago. They alleged that their daughter was being harassed by her in-laws for a last long time now.

The police have registered a case against Vijay Sharma, his mother, brother and sister.

Mystery shrouds death of local leader

A local INTUC leader died under mysterious circumstances yesterday.

According to information, Mohan Kumar’s (29) condition deteriorated on Friday following which he was rushed to Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, where he breathed his last.

The body was handed over to his family after conducting a postmortem at the Kalka CHC.

A pall of gloom descended on Khera Sita Ram, Ward No. 1 of Kalka, as the tragic news reached Kalka.

Mohan Kumar was a contesting candidate in the election from Ward No. 1 of the Kalka zone in the last Panchkula Corporation elections.
