Graduation ceremony at RIMC

The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) organised the graduation ceremony for the 176th course here yesterday. Prominent defense officers of Doon valley attended the function.

Col HS Bainsla, SM, Commandant of RIMC, gave a presentation about the achievements of the cadets.

Lt Gen Manvender Singh, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, Indian Military Academy, was the chief guest on the occasion.

He gave awards and trophies to the deserving cadets in various categories.

The most prestigious “The Sword of Honour” was bagged by cadet captain Shashank Shekhar. This award was instituted by Air Chief Marshal NC Suri, former chief of the air staff and one alumni of the college.

The sword also carries a cheque of Rs 5,000 presented by the KC Mahindra Education Trust.

The GOC UB Area Trophy for the best in leadership was also awarded to cadet captain Shashank Shekhar.

“The Wavell Sword” of the term was bagged by cadet section commander Bhaskar Gogoi. This award was instituted by the old boys of the Wavell Section from UK, who were at the college from 1941-46.

This award is presented a cadet who is adjudged best in integrity and character.
